It’s official now. The organization of the 56th edition of the RACC Catalonia Rally (October 14 to 17) will return, as has been the case in recent years, to Salou and the Costa Daurada. A special rally, which represents the return of the World Rally Championship to Spain.

For the sixteenth consecutive year, the Costa Daurada, the city of Salou and the PortAventura World theme and leisure park will be the core of the RallyRACC. Therefore, the meeting point of the rallying world during the days of the competition.

This news stops the rumors about a possible displacement of activities to more remote areas such as the Montmeló Circuit. Therefore, this new base, to the north of the community, which was gaining strength in recent weeks, is discarded.

2021 will bring changes to the rally. The RACC sports division is working on the itinerary of this penultimate test in the 2021 calendar. This will be entirely on asphalt, unlike the mixed nature of past editions.

This year’s WRC championship, which will consist of twelve events, started in January in Monte-Carlo and will continue in Rovaniemi-Finland, Croatia, Portugal, Italy-Sardinia, Kenya, Estonia, Jyväskylä-Finland, Ypres-Belgium and Chile. In October the RallyRACC will be held and in November it will be Japan’s turn, where the final round of the championship will be held.

This year, in the absence of knowing calendars such as the Peugeot Rallye Cup Ibérica, the Rally Catalonia will score, in addition to the WRC categories, for others such as the RGT Cup or, as a novelty, the Suzuki Swift Cup.
