The first special by Góis, 19.51 kilometers long, has left important news among the World Championship teams. Dani Sordo and Borja Rozada have just scored their first scratch together in the WRC, and they become leaders of the Vodafone Rally de Portugal.
The Spaniards, also taking advantage of their great starting position (penultimate WRC) crown the general classification ahead of their teammates. Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja, authors of the best time on SS1, are 3.2 seconds apart.
Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe classify their Hyundai i20 WRC in the third position of the podium, just 5.6 seconds behind the first position. Therefore, two first dream stages for Andrea Adamo’s squad, which currently has the Toyota under control.
Kalle Rovanperä and Elfyn Evans qualify fourth and fifth, but much further out of the lead. The young Finn is nine seconds behind Sordo, while the Welshman is ten seconds behind the Cantabrian driver. Takamoto Katsuta and Gus Greensmith are close too, just a few tenths behind Toyota’s starting drivers.
Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia are suffering the direct consequences of opening the track on a gravel rally. The leaders of the World Championship are eighth, but they already lose more than 15 seconds to the head. Adrien Fourmaux, on his part, continues to learn from him, and remains just a few tenths behind Ogier with the official Ford Fiesta WRC.
