Alfa Romeo is the third team to announce and show the world their car for the 2021 season. The presentation took place in Warsaw, Poland, in part due to the strong influence of Orlen, the main sponsor of the Swiss team. Robert Kubica was present with the two official Alfa Romeo drivers, both Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi.
Alfa Romeo C41:
The Alfa Romeo C41 is a car similar to that of previous seasons. This year the white wins predominance over the garnet that during previous seasons bathed the whole back of the car. In this way, the team’s logo can be seen in white, just like that of Orlen, its main sponsor. Here are the images and the official presentation of the car:
DRIVERS: Kimi Raikkonen y Antonio Giovinazzi
In a 2021 full of changes and transfers of drivers between teams, Alfa Romeo is one of the few teams that decides to continue betting on what it already had until now. A formula that combines an extremely experienced driver like Kimi Raikkonen and an Antonio Giovinazzi who is already in his 27 years and is not a young promise.
Kimi Raikkonen is a world motorsport legend and is grateful that at 41 years old she only continues in F1 for her passion for the sport. The Finn did not drop the rings in his day after leaving Ferrari to sign for a team at the bottom of the grid, which in principle did not guarantee competing for ambitious goals. Even so, last season we already saw a Raikkonen far from its best version that will try to help Alfa Romeo to develop the car thanks to its experience.
Antonio Giovinazzi will be with him again, who as the seasons pass is becoming a more reliable, constant and safe driver. In fact, it is being uncovered as a more than acceptable caretaker who knows how to manage the limitations of his car. However, the pace in qualifying remains its great must and what does not allow you to take the next step in an F1 where every year maintaining the seat is increasingly difficult.
OBJECTIVE: To reduce the distance to the middle zone
Last season Alfa Romeo went down in comparison to previous years, possibly caused by problems with the Ferrari engine. In 2019 the original Sauber team totaled 57 points, remaining only 16 points behind Racing Point. In 2020 the distance worsened, marking a clear difference between the middle and low zone, where Alfa Romeo was located next to Haas and Williams. Last year they only scored 8 points between Raikkonen and Giovinazzi.
For the 2021 season expectations with slightly more exciting. Ferrari-powered Alfa Romeo will improve in a way that was out of its reach last year. Enough to approach a middle zone that was so contested in 2020? Possibly not, but they have the objective of reducing the distance and repeating the eighth place in the world of constructors at the expense of the change of regulation.
