Informs the English medium specialized in rallies DirtFish. A Chinese car brand is studying its arrival at the World Rally Championship in the medium term. This means of communication has not revealed a name or time of arrival, but it does inform that it is close to being produced.
It is evidence that Rally China came very close to holding a new round of the World Rally Championship five years ago, but the weather prevented it. Certainly a Chinese automaker competing at the highest level in rallying would be a great championship opportunity.
Everything seems to indicate that said manufacturer will start with one of the “subsidiaries” of the new regulation. Recall that, starting next year, the current WRC models known since the 1990s will be renamed Rally1, with built-in hybrid technology.
Well, according to media sources, the brand “already has a marked planning and model” to enter the Rally3 category. Currently, within it, we only find the Ford Fiesta. They are all-wheel drive cars and sequential box, which are around 100,000 euros in price, with a 1.5 Turbo engine and 215 hp.
However, according to DirtFish, there are also other options that are practically similar to rallying for this brand: “There is more talk, of a bigger class car, but there is also the possibility of entering the World Rallycross Championship. The company is analyzing everything at the moment. It is very exciting” says the source.
The championship promoters are very keen to start attracting the Chinese market again, also with their rally. The last official visit to the Middle Eastern country took place in 1999, the season in which Didier Auriol took the victory at the controls of the Toyota Corolla WRC.
