The difficult times we are experiencing because of COVID19 are also being translated into our rallys. The Rallye Islas Canarias, which became the third event for the Spanish Rally Championship and the first of European Championship (ERC), has been postponed. It was scheduled to be held from 7 to 9 May.

After the suspension -waiting for a new date- of the Azores Rally, the Spanish event would be the inaugural one within the ERC. However, it hasn`t been so. If all goes well, the first race would be the Liepaja Rally (Latvia, gravel) from 29 to 31 May, the same weekend in which the Hoznayo Rally Festival of Cantabria is expected.

As for the Spanish calendar (CERA), Canarias was the third event. With the Sierra Morena cancelled, all eyes are on Adeje, to celebrate a week before the Canaries (30 April – 2 May). The situation, as it cannot be otherwise, will force it to be postponed in the same way as the rest of the rallys in the coming weeks.

The uncertainty will continue until further notice, both in the next rallyes to be cancelled and in the new dates. Rumour has it that the Canaries will be on the calendar after the summer. This is between the Barum Czech Rally Zlín (Czech Republic, asphalt), 28-30 August, and the Cyprus Rally (gravel) from 9 to 11 October.
