The fourth stage of Dakar 2021 took the pilots from Wadi-Ad-Dawasir to Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, with a total of 813 km (337 timed) and 65% of the route in sand. In the car section, equality has been the tonic of the day, with different drivers fighting.
Nasser Al-Attiyah has once again won a stage aboard the spectacular Toyota. The Qatari continues to show his speed, taking another step in the fight for victory. Henk Lategan, aboard another Toyota, has added another great performance after yesterday’s second place. Today he was third, 1:30 minutes from the best time. If he continues like this, the final podium will be a clear contender. Fourth, sublime again, Sébastien Loeb finished with the BRX. The new Prodrive machine is showing a lot of reliability.
Two of our representatives, Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz, finished in fifth place. The winners of the 2020 edition have lost 2:36 minutes to Al-Attiyah. Despite this, they have managed to finish without major setbacks after the half hour lost yesterday in navigation.
Nani Roma is provisionally twelfth in the stage classification. They have completed the top 10, so far, Przygonski (Toyota), Al Qassimi (Peugeot), Vasilyev (Mini), Van Loon (Toyota) and Baragwanath, tenth with the Century Racing team.
