The Cantabrian Automobile Federation has reached a collaboration agreement with MRF Tires Spain to promote its brand and support organizations in times of pandemic. The tire brand, based in Cantabria, is committed to the regional rally championships and rallysprint 2021. The project is signed for a total of two seasons.

The objective is none other than to help the teams to carry out their careers. In one form or another, there are large numbers of people struggling to celebrate their rallies in times of pandemic. The help of a brand with the prestige of MRF Tires will help, and a lot.

From now on, the aforementioned championships will be renamed as follows: Cantabrian Rally Championship / Rallysprint MRF Tires. The beginning of the collaboration will take place in the next Guriezo Rally, the first stop of the year in Cantabria.

Gonzalo Pérez, President of the FCTA, defines in this regard: “We were looking for a way to help the teams due to the difficult conditions we are experiencing. MRF Tires, led by Fernando Viadero, became interested in the proposal. The help of the brand will be key to be able to carry out many races and offer an image of MRF Tires, an increasingly consolidated brand, in a remarkable way”.

Without a doubt, good news for the championship: “The entry of a brand of your prestige is very important. In addition, we also help all the people who are behind our sport, organizing their races. For me, MRF Tires Spain is from home, and their support is a great boost for everyone. Hopefully this initiative will attract the attention of other people, who could also get involved in the Mountain, one of our strongest championships to date ”.

Fernando Viadero, head of MRF Tires Spain, is also enthusiastic about the project: “The situation we are experiencing continues to be complicated. I think it is our duty to do everything we can to reverse the inertia that our sport lost due to the difficult situation last year”.

It should be noted that we have made a very important effort and we have expanded the initial offer that the federation made us, both in terms of time and in economic amount, to help regain the good health that the Cantabrian regional had in pre-covid times.

Finally, Viadero reaffirms the following: “We have signed the agreement with the FCTA, but the federation only has a role as channel, the final destination of the full aid being the organizers of the rallies that so wish, a key part of this world. After this agreement, some organizers with financial problems, will be able to carry out their racesand with this we all win: Fans, drivers, federations, companies… “

In addition to its support for these championships, MRF Tires also continues its commitment to the championship, in this case with the creation of the R2 MRF Tires Cup. It will be a contest where the R2s are the main vehicles, offering a great show and renewing the park and the entry lists of the rally championship. The tire brand will also encourage the participation of great figures from our motorsport in the near future.

Cantabria has a total of six heated rallies for 2021: Guriezo will be the first during this same weekend. Valles Pasiegos, Sarón-Cristian López (also scoring for the Spanish Asphalt Rally Cup), Castro Urdiales, Cóbreces and Asón will be the races that complete this championship.

Rallysprint remains part of the foundation of motorsport in the community, with a total of eight races scheduled. Today they will be the following: Corrales de Buelna-Cieza, Cartes, Hoznayo, Rudagüera, Miengo, Obregón, Rionansa-Lamason and Medio Cudeyo.
