Carlos Moreno already has his new car running the 2021 season. The Murcian driver has bought a completely new Citroën C3 Rally2 from Sports & You. This is chassis number 74, with no races in its history to date.
After a 2019 of experience aboard the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X R4, Moreno opted for a Ford Fiesta R5 Evo2 MKI. This, specifically, as we published last month, has gone to the hands of the Cantabrian Juan Castillo, who will use it in the regional of his community.
For its part, the new C3 already arrives with the electronics update by the French brand. There are only a couple of details that will be approved in March, as Moreno has told us.
The team will do a test next Thursday, February 18 with RMC Motorsport, the team that will be in charge of car maintenance. “We will travel to Valencia to test the car for the first time, get some sensations and try to adapt the set-up for the first rally of the year”, highlights the driver.
The Llucena Rallysprint this weekend (February 20) will witness the debut of Moreno and his new co-driver, the Andalusian Antonio Pérez. “We want to release the car and, of course, enjoying it over the weekend and the rest of the season“.
If all goes well, Moreno will dispute three rounds of the Spanish Asphalt Championship with the C3 Rally2, as he has revealed to us. “Sierra Morena, La Nucía and Madrid are the three races we have chosen”. In addition, they will also dispute the 2021 Valencian Rally Championship, with its start in Gandía (March).
The gravel, a surface where he has not yet debuted, is also on his mind for 2021. This is what he commented: “We want to do some loose gravel rallyes with an RMC N5 vehicle. At the moment we don’t know anything due to the great uncertainty of the championships to this day. But yes, we really want to try this surface“.
