Paolo Diana has offered good news to his followers during Tuesday morning. The Italian driver is back with his Fiat 131 Abarth after almost a year in dry dock. Diana will once again enjoy riding him at Barum Czech Rally Zlín in the Czech Republic.
The aforementioned will be a scoring appointment for the European Rally Championship, but Diana and her co-driver for the occasion, Francesco Fresu, will make a shorter itinerary by registering in the historical section, which has a large list of 87 participating teams.
Diana and her team have focused part of the efforts of the 2021 season in the world of autocross, participating in sporadic appointments aboard an Alfa Romeo Mito. The San Marino Legend Rally (October 2020) recorded her last participation with the acclaimed Fiat 131 Abarth.
In the words of Paolo Diana himself: “I am very happy to be racing again, especially in an important event like this. I am looking forward to meeting many friends. Also, the public is very warm there and the Czech fans will be accompanied by many people from neighboring countries. Hopefully it’s a good party“.
Diana also has words of remembrance for her late friend Klausner: “The festive atmosphere surrounding the race has been saddened by the death of my partner Chris Klausner. I will always have his smile on my head. I will run the best I can and do it on all for him, as well as for the great public that will be present and for all those who support me”.
Unlike the protagonists of the continental competition, the teams in the historical section will complete 10 of the 15 scheduled stages. The inscription in this section leaves us with several Skoda models -as it could not be otherwise- (130 LR, Favorit, Felicia Kit-Car or 200 RS), in addition of course to many popular models of vintage rallies.
