The 307 WRC was Peugeot’s last machine for the World Rally Championship after the 206 WRC stage. The car participated in the 2004 and 2005 seasons (as an official), achieving three victories at the hands of Marcus Grönholm, a prominent competitor of the French brand in its last years.
Some of the fifteen units built by the official brand finished worse than others. Today we are going to review chassis number 3, on sale in Denmark today, and with an interesting history. He went out to the stages in the 2004 season.
Freddy Loix, Peugeot’s official competitor at the time, debuted the car at the Monte Carlo Rally with a fabulous fifth place finish. Despite the good performance offered, this car did not race in the WRC again until the following year, 2005.
Private pilot Daniel Carlsson was in charge of enjoying the device in the home rally for him, Sweden, also achieving a creditable sixth place. From there, since 2006, it passed into the hands of private teams: BSA Sport (France, 2006) and Tam-Auto (Italy (2007-2012).
After that journey, the 307 WRC switched to numerous teams and even private drivers, most of them in France. Kim Madsen bought the car in the 2019 season, returning it to its official livery of yesteryear. The Danish has recently put it up for sale.
The Madsen family, passionate about Peugeot, has enjoyed (and continues to this day) jewels such as the Peugeot 306 Maxi Kit-Car, 206 WRC (ex Panizzi or Grönholm), 207 S2000, 106 Maxi, 208 T16 R5 .. An absolute outrage! And all of them cared to the utmost detail …
The 307 WRC, known in Spain
Chassis 14 provided Santi Artetxe and Sandra Fernández with two Basque Rally Champions titles and as many Rallysprint titles. The local driver amazed fans with his machines, and this was one of the most exclusive given his recent participation in the World Rally Championship.
Specifically, this car was used by Marcus Grönholm in the New Zealand and Wales Rallies (WRC) in the 2005 season. A few months later, in February 2006, the car was on the first stage in Euskadi, specifically the Munguía Rallysprint .
In the same year (2006), the Catalan Jordi Zurita bought chassis 11 of the Peugeot 307 WRC, used by official drivers such as Freddy Loix, Harri Rovanperä or Markk Märtin months ago. Zurita disputed several rallies of the Catalan Championship and even some of the Basque one, such as the Rallye Enkartaciones Mena.
