Alexey Lukyanuk and Alexey Arnautov have suffered an accident during the tests prior to the Barum Czech Rally Zlín (Czech Republic), the fourth round of the European Rally Championship. The Russians crashed the Citroën C3 Rally2 during the test day before the race.
As can be seen in the image shared by Rallye Dream Blog, the Saintéloc Junior Team unit has suffered a severe blow to the front, including a fire hazard. We look forward to hearing the team’s decision within hours of starting the engines.
The Rally of Barum begins this Friday morning with the shakedown at 7:30 in the morning. The same Friday the teams will face the super special of Zlín. During Saturday and Sunday they will have 14 stages ahead, which add up to more than 200 timed kilometers.
Let’s remember that Lukyanuk leads the competition with a point advantage over Andreas Mikkelsen, six over Efrén Llarena and seven over Mikołaj Marczyk. A “zero” at this point in the season could be a major blow to the aspirations of any of the favorites.
Let us remember that the Russian team suffered a similar situation before going to Rally Poland, with another accident in the previous tests. Saintéloc Junior Team prepared another replacement Citroën C3 Rally2 in record time to be in the first round of the campaign, which they finally won.
